What is GPSR, and who does it apply to? The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) applies to all consumer products sold in the European Union. It requires businesses to assess safety risks, maintain up-to-date documentation, and appoint an EU Authorised Representative. GPSR Solutions helps you stay compliant through expert-led, subscription-based support.

What happens if I don’t comply with GPSR? Non-compliance may result in product recalls, marketplace delisting, fines, or legal action. EU authorities can request your safety file at any time. A missing or outdated file can trigger enforcement.

Does GPSR apply to all product categories? Yes. GPSR applies to all consumer products unless more specific EU laws (e.g. MDR or CPR) apply. Products must comply with all relevant regulations simultaneously.

Why do I need an EU Authorised Representative / Responsible Person (RP)? Non-EU sellers must appoint an EU-based RP to hold documentation and interface with regulators. This is mandatory under GPSR.

Can GPSR Solutions act as my Authorised Representative / Responsible Person? Yes. Our subscription includes full EU representation via our German entity, valid for the duration of your active plan.

Can I change Authorised Representatives later? Yes. If you switch providers, labels and documents must be updated. We do not charge cancellation or transfer fees.

Do I need a risk assessment for each product? Yes. Every product type requires a documented risk assessment under GPSR. It’s the foundation of your compliance file.

What’s included in a GPSR risk assessment?

What is technical documentation, and why is it required? It’s the file EU regulators can request at any time to verify product safety. It includes:

4. GPSR & Online Marketplaces

What does GPSR mean for online sellers? To sell on platforms like Amazon, Etsy, or Shopify in the EU, you must:

  • Appoint an EU Authorised Representative
  • Register with the EU Safety Gate Portal
  • Maintain risk assessments and compliance documentation
  • Apply all required safety labeling

How long does certification take? Typically 5–10 business days after we receive your complete product data. Timelines vary based on product complexity and documentation quality.

What product data do you need from me?

How much does it cost? Pricing is tiered by product count:

What are your pricing plans?

  • Bundle 1: Starter (1–3 product types): $50 / month
  • Bundle 2: Essential (4–10 product types): $100 / month
  • Bundle 3: Growth (11–20 product types): $250 / month
  • Bundle 4: Enterprise (21–50 product types): $500 / month
  • Extra Product Type Add‑On (for additional product types): $15 each / month

Do you offer annual plans or discounts? Yes. Annual billing is available with discounted rates. Contact us for custom quotes on portfolios with more than 50 product types.

Are there extra fees if regulators contact you? No. Regulator inquiries are included. If external legal or lab services are needed, we’ll notify you first and only proceed with your approval.

6. Additional Services

Can you help with CE marking? Yes. We support CE marking and other applicable EU safety directives for toys, electrical products, etc. if needed.

Do you offer lab testing? Yes. We coordinate third-party lab testing through accredited partners where required. This is quoted separately based on the product and test scope.
